TMX Group traces its roots back to the 1852 founding of the Toronto Stock Exchange. Over the next century, it grew organically and through mergers, evolving into a major North American exchange.  

The TMX Group was officially formed through a 2008 merger with the Montréal Exchange. Today, TMX Group remains a prominent Canadian market player, with recent ventures like listing the world's first Bitcoin ETF.
