New credit offering will focus primarily on private secured loans to lower middle market companies in North America
Shortly after announcing a new donor-advised fund for its clients, Gluskin Sheff, the wealth management platform of Onex, has announced an addition to its alternative investment fund shelf.
Through the newly launched the Onex Falcon Direct Lending Fund, Gluskin Sheff is offering Canadian accredited individual investors the opportunity to access an asset class that captures the interest of institutions and family offices.
“As investor needs continue to evolve, we are proud to be part of Onex, which enables us to offer Gluskin Sheff clients access to creative and unique alternative investment solutions,” said Gluskin Sheff President and CEO Jeff Moody. “Backed by an industry leader with a long-term record of success in this space, the Onex Falcon Direct Lending Fund provides our clients with an exciting alternative offering to help further diversify their portfolios, which is especially attractive in the current low interest rate environment.”
With a focus on principal preservation and downside protection, the fund will invest in private, high-value senior secured loans to lower middle-market companies in North America. It will also selectively consider opportunities in Europe and other non-North American jurisdictions.
Accredited investors in the fund have the opportunity to get benefits such as:
- Quarterly subscriptons;
- Regular income distributions, if desired; and
- Diversification from public market investments.
The fund is managed by Onex Falcon, whose track record extending over 20 years is supported by a team of more than 30 investment professionals. The fund follows an approach that combines the Onex platform’s broad sourcing of transactions with creative and flexible investment structures.
“Our team has a long-standing track record of creating value for our investors, placing an emphasis on capital preservation and achieving strong risk adjusted returns through credit cycles,” said Eric Rogoff, managing director and sector head for Onex Falcon.
