New co-heads of junior credit for private markets to help develop specialized funds and other products for institutional clients
Manulife Investment Management has announced two people as co-heads of junior credit for private markets.
In their new roles, Joshua Liebow and Mateusz Szwarc will take on the shared responsibility of helping develop specialized funds, separately managed accounts, and other investment products for the firm’s global institutional client base.
Since joining Manulife Investment Management in 2004, Liebow has been a member of the John Hancock North American Corporate Finance transportation team. Prior to the announcement, he was a managing director, equity co-investments and junior credit at the firm. He graduated from Babson College and is a CFA charterholder.
Szwarc has been with Manulife Investment Management since 2013. He has nearly two decades of private credit and equity investment experience, and was most recently a managing director, equity co-investments and junior credit. A graduate of Boston College, Szwarc got his MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

The new appointments reaffirm Manulife Investment Management’s decades-long record working alongside private equity sponsors to provide patient, non-controlling junior capital – including traditional subordinated and second-lien debt and structured equity – to established businesses.
