New educational platform aims to help advisors level up their knowledge of next-generation asset class
MeetAmi Innovations Inc., a fintech company that helps wealth management companies navigate the world of digital assets on behalf of their customers, is helping more North American advisors future-proof their practices by increasing their awareness on next-generation alternative investments.
Through a distribution deal with Morningstar, the Vancouver-based startup is making its extensive AmiLearn Digital Asset Learning platform available through Morningstar Advisor Workstation.
Subscribers may now access AmiLearn through the App Hub in Morningstar Advisor Workstation, where they can access both free and paid instructional materials on digital assets. Lessons, a dictionary of terminology, curated news, certification courses, and other resources are all part of the collection of digital asset-focused content.
“We saw the gap in the market for traditional wealth advisors to connect to the fast-paced world of Digital Assets,” said Hashim Mitha, MeetAmi’s CEO and co-founder. “For the last two years, we have been building the MeetAmi family of products – AmiPro, AmiLearn, and AmiServices – as well as the team to be well positioned to support the growing client demand we are seeing in Canada and the US.”
Advisors are observing a growing trend in client demand for direct ownership options for digital assets amid a generational shift in wealth, which is expected to see over $68 trillion in assets change hands.
“As cryptocurrencies make headlines almost daily, advisors are continually being asked by clients to help them understand Digital Assets,” said Mitha. “We are excited to collaborate with Morningstar to deliver best-in-class learning tools that help advisors become more proficient in this new Alternative Asset Class.”
Digital assets represent an ever-evolving and expanding sector. AmiLearn offers members a continual learning experience by introducing material and features such as new tools, resources, and accreditations to support this shifting ecosystem. This one location allows users to study, advance their knowledge, and develop their skills for this changing asset class.
"Market volatility and compliance issues in the cryptocurrency space over the last year continue to drive the need for advisors and financial professionals to become more knowledgeable to help guide their client's investments in this asset class," said Chuck Hamilton, chief learning officer at MeetAmi. “Our goal is to provide the tools and resources to enable advisors to make qualified decisions and provide guidance to their clients.”
Last year, MeetAmi closed a $36-million seed investment round from Private International Consulting (PIC), an independently run multi-family European investment office. The funds helped the firm build out its platform and add new features for advisors to more easily transact and manage digital asset portfolios.
