The firm’s initial foray includes differentiated offerings for the ‘underrepresented’ real-asset sector
Six months after its formation, independent asset manager Starlight Capital has announced its debut in the Canadian investment-fund space. The firm’s initial mandates will focus on providing differentiated solutions around underrepresented sectors in Canadian investors’ portfolios.
“I am extremely proud of the hard work our team has put in over the last six months,” said Dennis Mitchell, CEO and CIO of Starlight Capital, who’s managed more than $3 billion in assets over 15 years of investment-industry experience. “This firm is our collective passion and we are all excited to be able to introduce Canadian investors to Starlight Capital.”
The firm’s very first strategies will focus on real assets, and will both be available as mutual funds and ETFs starting October 2:
- Starlight Global Real Estate Fund (ETF ticker symbol SCGR)
- Starlight Global Infrastructure Fund (ETF ticker symbol SCGI)
The mutual funds and listed ETFs promise access to publicly listed global real assets through concentrated portfolios of high-quality businesses. They also promise to be a source of regular and growing cash-flow streams, capital appreciation, and inflation protection.
Starlight Capital is the real-estate securities platform of Starlight Investments, a real-estate investment and asset management company. According to the statement announcing Starlight Capital’s launch in March, it will be involved in creating investment solutions that combine its real-estate securities expertise with Starlight Investments’ North American real-estate asset management platform.
“Our partnership with Starlight Investments has been invaluable and their backing has allowed us to build a robust client service platform that advisors will appreciate," said Graeme Llewellyn, CFO and COO of Starlight Capital. A veteran with 15 years of investment industry experience, Llewellyn has led the formation of Starlight Capital’s infrastructure platform.
