Canadian financial services veteran and former exec at CIBC Capital Markets takes over crucial position
BlackRock has appointed a new head of its iShares Canada business.
In an internal memo, Armando Senra, head of Americas iShares and Marcia Moffat, BlackRock’s country head of Canada, announced this week that Helen Hayes has joined the organization as the new head of Canada iShares.
“Helen is an important leader in the Canadian financial services industry, bringing more than two decades of experience at Canadian and Global Investment banks to our team,” the memo said.
Over the course of her career, Hayes has cultivated a track record of building growth businesses and diversifying revenue streams. She worked for the past 11 years at CIBC Capital Markets, and has led high-performance sales and trading teams both in Canada and across the globe.
“[H]er experience will help us deepen client relationships and strengthen iShares’ leadership position in Canada,” the memo said.
In February, Pat Chiefalo left the position and went on to join Invesco as its head of ETFs and indexed strategies for Canada; Madeleine Sinclair was announced as his replacement the following month.
In the latest memo, Senra and Moffat thanked Steven Leong, Divya Steinwall and Hamid Omoumi for their continuing leadership, and also thanked Warren Collier, BlackRock’s managing director, for working as interim head of iShares Canada over the past two months.
They also said that Collier will soon be taking on a new role as chief operating officer for Canada, once the current COO Eleanor McIntyre retires.
