What’s next for the ETF industry?

Four experts, one hour – don't miss your chance to join the discussion about the major trends and opportunities in the ETF space

What’s next for the ETF industry?

Canada’s ETF industry has continued its rise. Last year saw another record 12 months as it outsold mutual funds for the third consecutive year amid a devastating plunge into bear market territory and equally rapid recovery.

So, what’s next? Wealth Professional invites you to attend tomorrow’s (April 20) virtual event titled Disruption, Innovation & Opportunities: The Future of ETFs, part of our WP Advisor Connect – Spotlight Series.

The event takes place at 1pm EST, features four key industry experts on one ‘stage’, and will last one hour. To register, click on this link and follow the prompts.

The line-up includes: Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst, Bloomberg Intelligence; Duane Green, President and Chief Executive Officer, Franklin Templeton Canada; Steve Hawkins, President and CEO, Horizons ETFs Canada and Chair, Canadian ETF Association; and Lisa Lake Langley, CEO & Founder, Emerge Canada Inc

WP will tap into our guests’ deep knowledge on the industry to discuss what’s next for the ETF industry, and what major trends, risks and opportunities should be on every Canadian investors’ radar?

Topics will include the reopening of the economy, low rates, inflation, alternatives, fixed income, thematics, ‘Big Active’, and so much more.

Langley, who was responsible for bringing ARK Invest’s suite of ETFs to the Canadian market, will reflect on innovation, both in the industry and ETF products. She believes passionately that Canadians should be able to participate in this opportunity.

She said: “Disruptive Innovation is about new technologies, where there is urgency for the development of medical cures for diseases and cancer, technologies to improve communication and global payments just to name a few.

“Drones are able to deliver medicines to parts of our world now where they do not even have roads. I thank the Lord we experienced the pandemic at a time when we had the capability to sequence the virus within days and then develop vaccines. How would we have prevailed against the pandemic without genomics and DNA sequencing?

"By using Canadian listed ETFs, which are better for Canadian residents, allocations to innovation are possible. It is an exciting time in our industry and I am honoured to be a part of its development.”
