Saskatchewan-based firm offering custom health and life benefit plans for small-business owners through new partnership
Saskatchewan-based insurance provider GMS Health and Travel Insurance (GMS) and Benefits By Design (BBD) have announced a partnership to meet the diverse needs of Canadian businesses and their employees with customized comprehensive health and life benefit plans.
“We share a commitment to helping Canadians protect all aspects of their health,” said GMS Director of Group Benefits Ryan Kotylak. “Partnering with BBD gives us greater flexibility in providing custom solutions for businesses with 11 or more employees, including an expanded range of life and disability benefits and the ability to offer coverage to more industries.”
On top of traditional life and disability insurance, BBD offers a multi-use critical illness benefit with different groupings of illnesses. A plan member who makes a claim and receives a payout for an illness in one grouping may, at a later time, make another claim for a critical illness in a different grouping.
BBD’s life insurance also comes with a medical second opinion and business assistance program, which helps employers in providing employee support in navigating health concerns and gives peace of mind to small-business owners seeking legal, financial, and HR support. Both services are included at no added cost.
The AD&D benefit offered by BBD also comes with critical disease coverage.
“We are so excited about this partnership because of the many similarities and shared values we possess,” said Benefits By Design’s director of Partnership Development Kristina MacPherson. “Both organizations are deeply committed to helping Canadians promote and protect their health, wealth and happiness and this partnership allows us to more fully realize this shared vision.”
