Women-focused insurance industry website launched

The new site offers a platform for female advisors to network and share resources

Women-focused insurance industry website launched
Insurance Forums, an online peer-to-peer community connecting over 80,000 insurance salespersons, has announced a new women-oriented insurance industry newsletter and website.

The Women’s Insurance Network (WIN) is an online resource that aims to help women succeed in the industry.

“Our mission through Insurance Forums, and now, WIN, has always been to provide a platform for networking and sharing of tools for success within the insurance and financial advising space,” said Pam Sheen, senior vice president at Insurance Forums and WIN. “We are excited to offer a connection between female producers and the resources, as well as the businesses devoted to supporting women in this market.”

The resources to be hosted on the site include peer-to-peer content and best-practices case studies from women actively working in the field. The newsletter content has been placed under the direction of Emily Holbrook, a veteran industry journalist and former editor-in-chief of publications such as National Underwriter Life & Health and Retirement Advisor.

“During my decade spent writing about the insurance sector, there was no cause I was more passionate about than helping women succeed in the industry,” Holbrook said. “And now I get to continue on that important path.”

“The industry has long known that women are significantly underrepresented and continues to struggle to make selling insurance a more approachable career for women,” said Sam Melamed, president of Insurance Forums and WIN.

Melamed noted that the number of female insurance practitioners has not kept up with women’s increasing control over decisions regarding household income and wealth. “There is tremendous opportunity for women to succeed in the insurance industry,” he said.

The WIN newsletter has been launched with the support of Ohio National Financial Services. The site includes topic-specific features, advice, and conversation-starting poll questions.
