In this edition of Wealth Professional TV, we sat down with Alynn Godfroy, CEO of Godfroy Financial Group. Recognized as one of the annual Top 50 Women in Wealth, Godfroy shared valuable insights into her approach to retirement, estate planning, and her new book “Retire on Purpose”.
Godfroy highlighted the importance of understanding the unique needs and goals of the client. That having a strong advisor-client relationship is critical, as well as crafting clear, written, and articulated retirement plans.
Other essential components of retirement planning included tax planning, cash-flow planning, and overlooked household expenses. Godfroy stressed the importance of having regular meetings and adjusting retirement plans as circumstances change.
The rising cost of living was a key topic of discussion, Godfroy offered valuable solution-based insights on tax-free savings, registered investments, and strategic life insurance. She emphasized the need for personalized cash flow plans and the strategic transition from accumulation to decumulation when managing assets.
Closing off, Godfroy expressed the importance of listening, building trust, and understanding the concerns of the client to best serve their needs. When asked about approaching advisor-client relationships, Godfroy noted:
“I think the key is to listen and ask them, what keeps you up at night? Are you concerned about leaving a legacy for your kids? But the key is just listening. And if they trust you, they're going to tell you what you need to know.”
