The Wealth Professional awards are inching ever closer and now we can reveal the illustrious panel of judges
It has been dubbed as the most important night of the year in the financial advice arena: and now, as the annual Wealth Professional Awards edge ever closer, we are proud to reveal this year’s judging panel.
Nominations for this year’s awards have now closed and we’ve put together a proverbial “who’s who” of the industry to delve into the names that have been put forward and determine who is most deserving of walking away with the various honours at our glamorous celebration, considered the gold standard for the industry, on June 02.
So who’s on the panel? Let’s take a look.
Greg Pollock – President and CEO of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada
Responsible for providing effective strategic leadership and direction at Advocis, Greg Pollock oversees all of the association’s day-to-day activities and has helped grow membership to more than 11,000 nationwide. In addition, Greg is the Chief Operating Officer of The Institute, the leading designation body in Canada for financial services practitioners in the specialist areas of estate planning, living benefits and wealth transfer.
“I am proud to once again be a member of the judging panel at the 2016 Wealth Professional Awards,” he said. “As an industry, it is important that we recognize the outstanding work of advisors in our community. The awards are a great way for advisors to connect and champion excellence in the field.”
Sue Lemon – Chief Executive Officer and Director of the CFA Society Toronto
CEO of the CFA Society Toronto, Sue promotes high ethical standards for the industry and attempts to increase the visibility of the charter with key partners throughout the financial community. In addition, Sue is a successful investment executive, especially in the fixed income markets where she formed MSL Advisory Corp back in 2008. In addition she has held a number of senior roles at the likes of Canada Trust, CT Investment Counsel, Nesbitt Thomson, and CIBC World Markets.
Robbie Wildman – Financial Advisor and Past President of Advocis
With more than 45 years of experience in the financial services industry, Robbie has just about seen and done it all. Much of his impressive career was spent with London Life but he is also a life member of the Million Dollar Roundtable and has earned 32 National Quality Service Awards. He is a past president of the Life Underwriters Association of Canada and past chairman of the Institute of Chartered Life Underwriters.
“Anything that encourages excellence in our business is important and based on last year’s awards, I see these awards becoming more meaningful and important, as well as prestigious, going forward,” he said.
Nancy Allan – Executive director of the Independent Financial Brokers of Canada
Nancy is the executive director at the IFB, a not-for-profit association that represents financial services professionals as well as those in the mutual fund and insurance arenas. Its role is to enhance and protect the businesses of its members and support consumer choice. Prior to this role, Nancy spent more than 12 years working in members communications for the same association.
Deb Alley – CEO of the Responsible Investment Association
The first project director of the David Suzuki Foundation, Deb has been a pioneer for the responsible investment industry in Canada. She was CEO and portfolio manager at the first investment management company in Canada to focus exclusively on responsible investments and is the author of Global Profit and Global Justice: Using Your Money to Change the World. She is also an Honourary Director of the B.C. Sustainable Energy Association and sits on the board of the Forest Ethics Solutions Society.
