New figures released by Statistics Canada show that a large percentage of Canadians are living in poverty. The analysis of 2012 incomes reveals that 13.8 per cent were living in low income households including 16.3 per cent of children. In lone-parent households 44.5 per cent of children were considered in poverty. Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia fared better than the national after-tax median of $71,700 for households of two or more people.
