Advocis has a new chief executive officer, succeeding interim CEO Harris Jones.

Kelly Gorman, CPA, CA, ICD.D, takes up the CEO role from September 23, 2024, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience to the firm including finance, governance, and regulatory compliance.

She has held senior roles at CPA Ontario and the OSC and was formerly executive vice president of Governance Advisory at Kingsdale Advisors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kelly as the new CEO of Advocis,” said Al Jones, the chair of the board of directors who was appointed in August. “Her unique combination of leadership, financial acumen, and regulatory experience will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the financial advice profession and support our members in providing trusted financial guidance to clients across Canada.”

Gorman will shape the strategic direction of the financial advisors’ association and oversee its next phase of growth, guided by its mission to empower advisors to give the best advice and service to their clients.

With the organization’s education, advocacy, and professional development activities at the forefront, Gorman is tasked with expanding Advocis’ reach and commitment to professional excellence.

“I am honored to be joining Advocis at such an important time for the financial advice profession,” said Gorman. “I look forward to working with the Board, our members, and stakeholders to ensure that financial advisors continue to play a vital role in helping Canadians achieve their financial goals.”

It was a year ago that Greg Pollock, who served as the association’s president for over a decade, left Advocis.
