It was arguably the biggest win of the night, with a leading Waterloo, Ont., player being named Advisor of the Year.
The Liberty Grand buzzed with excitement Friday evening as the winners of the 21 awards up for grabs at the inaugural Wealth Professional Awards brought to you by Invesco were announced to the 400 in attendance.
“I am honoured, proud, and humbled to be named the inaugural Mandeville Private Client Inc. award for Advisor of the Year, and to have received it from Michael Lee-Chin, a true pioneer in our field,” Stephen Jones, Assante Wealth Management proudly told WP Monday. “The award means even more when I look over the names of my fellow nominees, and realize that they represent the “brightest and the best” our profession has to offer, from coast to coast, in Canada.”
Often the people behind the scenes, while absolutely essential to the success of any financial advisor or team, don’t get the recognition that they so richly deserve.
As the inaugural winner of Advisor of the Year, Stephen Jones is quick to remind WP that his success is a byproduct of all the hard work by everyone in his Waterloo office and beyond.
“Today, my Waterloo Assante office celebrates, as my team’s passion to tackle complex issues, seek practical solutions for our clients, save tax, ensure families are protected, and navigate the ‘head winds’ we all face, by planning ahead, has been recognized,” said Jones. “I also wish to acknowledge that my ‘team’ includes many - my friends at Assante, fellow CPA’s, lawyers and advisors in Waterloo, my colleagues at my Mississauga branch, and all those who have helped me help my clients, over the last twenty years. Without their help, this could not be possible.”
Gracious to a fault the veteran advisor of the last 20 years believes all successful advisors have a responsibility to “pay it forward” to those coming up the ladder just as so many have done for him in the past.
“Today, I feel truly blessed.”
