Telecoms giant BCE is to buy mobile phone retailer Glentel for $594 million it announced today. BCE, known by its Bell brand, is defending its position in a highly competitive market and the deal will ensure that it has control of a key distribution channel. Glentel investors will receive $26.50 per share; around twice the stock market value at the time of the announcement.
