The investment firm has hired former president of Jeffries Securities to head the new operation from his Toronto base
A UK-headquartered boutique investment bank has established a North American operation and hired a Canadian industry veteran to head it.
Bacchus Capital is an independent investment and merchant banking platform with particular expertise in public market takeover and defence with advisory, capital market, and ventures divisions.
In North America, it will be led by Steven Latimer, former president and head of Canadian investment banking at Jeffries Securities, whose 30+ years in the industry includes roles at Credit Suisse, Salman Partners, UBS, and Goldman Sachs.
“Bacchus Capital is focused on providing truly differentiated solutions for our clients, particularly in the context of highly strategic M&A, takeover or defence situations or moments of tactical or financial stress, and on delivering value-added results,” commented Bacchus Capital chairman and CEO Peter Bacchus. “Steven has an unrivalled track record of providing high quality tactical and financial advice, in Canada and globally, and we are delighted to have him join us."
Toronto-based
Latimer will be based in Toronto and work with Denver-based Karr McCurdy, who is a member of the Bacchus Capital Senior Advisory Board, as well as the firm’s UK and global teams.
Latimer is managing director and head of the firm’s presence in the Americas.
"Bacchus Capital has quickly established an outstanding reputation for providing clients with innovative, and dedicated support since it was founded, often in complex, high stakes transactions,” he said. “It has a firm foundation from which to build internationally, and I look forward to joining the team and leading the firm's growth in the North American markets."
