Switching from fossil fuels to environmentally-friendly alternatives would be possible without too much pain according to a group of Canadian scholars. Their study shows that creating a low-carbon economy isn’t massively painful because we’re already doing well with 75 per cent of Canada’s electricity coming from low-carbon sources. The estimated cost of the changes needed are 1 per cent of GDP but there would be savings to both health and environmental costs.
