Canadian private equity firm to grab stakes in aircraft maker
Aircraft maker Airbus is reportedly in talks of selling its subsidiary to Canadian private equity firm Onex Corporation.

Reuters sourced a German newspaper reporting that Onex is the sole possible buyer of Premium Aerotec, a supplier of aircraft parts which specialises in huge and complex aircraft components not just of Airbus but also of Boeing and Eurofighter.

“We have been faced with rumours on sales of Premium AEROTEC for more than a decade now. We simply don’t comment on them anymore as a matter of principle,” a spokesman for Airbus said when asked about the said deal.

The firm records around $2.4 billion in revenue and currently has a 10,000-strong workforce.

According to the report Reuters cited, the potential sale would allow Airbus to focus its end production in Europe, China, and the United States.

Boeing sold units of Spirit AeroSystems to Onex for US$950 million and went public in November 2006.
