The number of Canadians searching online for information about clearing their debts has increased according to Google. Searches for the phrase “pay off debts” were 9 per cent higher this month than a year ago and searches for savings accounts have doubled. With the latest Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index showing an increase in confidence in personal finances but lower expectations for the economy it appears that consumers are bolstering their finances in case of tougher times ahead.
