A plan by The Beer Store has been dismissed by the Ontario Convenience Stores Association as a ploy to protect its monopoly. Convenience store owners want to be able to sell beer across the province and are not impressed by The Beer Store announcing that it will allow some ownership by local craft brewers and to reduce the costs for them having their products stocked at the stores. OCSA says the move is “window dressing” and designed to protect the monopoly so that profits are maintained for its foreign owners.
