Investment firm picks talent head for top job
Investment dealer Edward Jones will have a new leader in Canada from this summer.
Current financial advisor talent acquisition head David Gunn will become the firm’s country leader in June when Tim Kirley retires.
He will lead a team which now totals 2,219 associates in branch offices and the firm’s home office in Ontario.
Gunn has been a general partner with Edward Jones since 2008 and in his current role leads the team that recruits and hires its financial advisors in Canada.
He started at the firm as a financial advisor in 2000 and was regional leader for around 50 branch offices before relocating to the Canadian headquarters in Mississauga in 2008. He has held several leadership roles in Canada and the US since.
Gunn earned his undergraduate degree from Queen's University in Kingston, ON. He also is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School's Securities Industry Institute. He earned his MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
The man he succeeds, Tim Kirley, joined Edward Jones in 1983 as a financial advisor, became a general partner in 1994 and has been Canada’s country leader since 2015. He has overseen the firm’s growth and consistent rankings for satisfaction from investors and employees.
