Three fourths of candidates passed the most recent sitting
FP Canada has published the results for the May sitting of the Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) certification exam, which was administered on May 26.
“Congratulations to the successful candidates who displayed exceptional focus to prepare for the May QAFP exam, despite the ongoing challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tashia Batstone, who officially took on the role of president and CEO of FP Canada in June.
“The QAFP certification is the ideal launch pad to start a career in financial planning and help Canadians make the right financial decisions by offering advice that fits their lives and supports their short and long-term goals,” Batstone said.
To give additional flexibility and choice amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, FP Canada again offered candidates the option to write the exam in person at a test centre across nine provinces, or take it in a secure environment through online proctoring. The online option proved overwhelmingly popular, with more than 90% of candidates selecting it.
All in all, 253 candidates wrote the QAFP exam. Of those, 74.7% got a passing score. Aside from completing a series of education requirements and passing the exam, candidates must have at least one year of qualifying work experience to obtain the QAFP certification.
Introduced in January 2020, the QAFP is designed for financial planners who’ve demonstrated the knowledge, skills, experience, and ethics to understand their client’s everyday financial planning needs, and provide holistic financial advice that’s fit to support their diverse lives and goals.
“The QAFP certification is the ideal launch pad to start a career in financial planning and help Canadians make the right financial decisions by offering advice that fits their lives and supports their short and long-term goals,” Batstone said.
The QAFP exam will be conducted three times this year. The next QAFP exam will be held on October 13, coinciding with the next CFP exam to be administered on October 13 and 14.
