A cocktail of global economic woes have combined this week to subdue sentiment in the world markets. Oil is heading lower once more, China is reporting weakness and there is still uncertainty over US interest rates.
On Thursday markets collapsed with Canada’s TSX and the US Dow Jones both losing more than 2 per cent and Friday’s session looks likely to bring more of the same.
Asian markets have tumbled; Shanghai down 4 per cent, Tokyo down almost 3 per cent, Sydney down 1.4 per cent.
European indexes are down by less than 1 per cent in most cases but sentiment may well drag them further down as the session continues.
