Canadian banks are among the best companies to work for according to Forbes
Working for a great employer has never been more important and it’s good to see Canadian banks among the world’s best.
The annual global ranking of Forbes Best Employers includes several from Canada’s financial services sector.
The overall listing is dominated by tech companies with the top 10 led by Samsung and including Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Apple, and Google’s Alphabet parent.
Among those in the Banking and Financial Services sector, Visa is the best ranked at 36, but Desjardins is the second best employer in the sector (#98 overall).
"We're quite proud of this new recognition from Forbes, which reflects on the entire organization," said Marie-Huguette Cormier, Executive Vice-President, Human Resources and Communications. "It's all the more meaningful because our employees answered this survey during an unusual time, when they were all tackling serious challenges to support our members and clients."
In April, Desjardins was also recognized by the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative as a responsible institution for the many relief measures it offered to members and clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
TD is also in the list (112) along with Scotiabank (137) and RBC (269).
Scotia recently received the Coronavirus and Benefits award at Benefits Canada's Workplace Benefits Awards, along with an award for its efforts to support mental health.
"At Scotiabank, we firmly believe that healthy, well-supported employees are able to bring their very best selves to their work," said Barb Mason, group head and chief human resources officer. "Underpinning all of our decisions during the pandemic was the recognition that every employee is unique, with individualized needs. We prioritized flexibility and choice in our pandemic benefits support, so that Scotiabankers could make decisions that best addressed their needs."
