Only one day left to weigh in and name the people, teams, and firms that make the industry great
Today’s the last day to nominate deserving contenders for the 2022 Wealth Professional Awards. After two years of being held in a virtual format, the event is returning to its original in-person, red-carpet roots on June 1, 2022, at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.
There will be 23 awards up for grabs this year, each one recognizing the efforts of those whose dedication to client service and professionalism has helped to elevate the Canadian wealth industry.

Among the dozen individual accolades in contention is the IFSE Institute Award for Financial Literacy Champion. The prestigious honour goes to a financial professional who’s demonstrated leadership and commitment to bettering the lives of individuals and families by promoting financial literacy and working actively to educate members of their community.
“This category has grown to be a really important category where you see all of these professional finalists that are willing to teach and educate Canadians,” said Elizabeth Naumovski of Caldwell Securities, who emerged as last year’s Financial Literacy Champion. “The real winners here are Canadians because they have so many resources to learn from now.”
The Lifetime Achievement in the Financial Planning Industry award, the highest individual honour, recognizes a leading figure who has contributed substantially to advancing Canada’s wealth management and financial planning industry. To Jos Schmitt, last year’s awardee, that requires striking a balance between engaging with stakeholders and embracing change.
“There’s no way to come to new ideas and ideas of doing things differently if you don't really understand the issues or challenges,” said Schmitt, the co-founder, President, and CEO of the NEO Group. “You have to listen, be open-minded to thinking out of the box, and be open-minded to risks. Nothing will happen if you don’t take risks and are unwilling to accept failure.”
The ceremony will also shine a spotlight on 11 organizations that distinguish themselves in terms of technological advancement, product innovation, client service, and philanthropic advocacy. There are categories open not just to wealth management firms and practices, but also to the tech vendors and providers that support and elevate them to new heights.
“For us, the criteria to be selected for this award represents more than a set of required qualifications and instead reinforces our mission to empower everyone to understand and impact their financial future,” said Anthony Stich, COO of NaviPlan, which came away with The WP Readers' Choice Award for Service Provider of the Year in 2021. “We are proud to create the tools necessary for advisors and firms to provide their clients with quality advice to navigate the financial complexities of life.”
