World markets closed generally lower Monday as concern over China’s volatile markets and economy continued to weigh heavily while a lack of certainty over US interest rates is also adding caution.
Asian markets closed lower with the weakened sentiment spreading to Europe and then to North America. Even a rebound in oil prices failed to boost the major indexes.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed down 5.95 (0.04 per cent)
The Dow Jones closed down 115.0 (0.69 per cent)
Oil is trending higher (Brent $53.40, WTI $48.54 at 4.15pm)
Gold is trending higher (1134.70 at 4.15pm)
