Markets mixed, data in focus
Data is playing a key part in equity markets so far Friday with Chinese PMI and Eurozone manufacturing in focus.
Asian markets closed mostly higher as Chinese manufacturing data showed improvement but Seoul and Hong Kong were slightly lower.
European indexes are trending higher as mostly-positive data boosts sentiment. manufacturing PMI from the UK, Italy and France beat or met expectations but German manufacturing PMI was lower.
Italian GDP was in line with expectations and flat compare to the previous reading.
Wall Street and Toronto are expected to open higher. Canada’s MLI leading indicator and manufacturing data; and US labour market data is due.
Canada, Mexico will continue trade deal even without US
If the United States decides to abandon NAFTA Canada and Mexico would continue with a trade deal according to Mexican economy minister Ildefonso Guajardo.
Speaking at an event Thursday, Guajardo said the NAFTA deal would continue to regulate trade between Mexico and Canada even without the US.
The second round of NAFTA talks begin Friday in Mexico City and President Trump says if the agreement doesn't work for America he will consider scrapping it.
