From pensions to penalties - one RBC advisor has thrown in the financial towel to pick up the professional hockey puck. Well, whistle.

RBC will be missing a key player from its Orangeville team next week after one advisor signed a contract with the National Hockey League Officials Association (NHLOA) late last month.
As an official linesman, 30-year-old Shandor Alphonso will be sharing the ice with some of the best hockey players in the world. However, it’s not the most likely of career changes, so how does it feel going from controlling millions in assets to minutes in the box?
“It was a great feeling to sign and be hired by the NHL," said Alphonso, who added that he’d wanted to be a part of the NHL for his entire life. Well, who hasn’t? “Realizing the dream was pretty amazing,” he continued.
Alphonso took up officiating four years ago after his hockey playing career, which saw him win the Queen’s Cup with the Lakehead University Thunderwolves, came to an end. He spent the first three seasons refereeing in the OHL before breaking through to the NHL.
Now, Alphonso is abandoning the office in favour of the ice rink and will divide his time between the American Hockey League (AHL) and the NHL. His final day with RBC will be this Thursday.
