National Bank has announced the appointment of IT and telecomm industry veteran Pierre Blouin to its board of directors

In a recent news release, National Bank welcomed Pierre Blouin as the newest member of its board of directors. Blouin will also be sitting on the firm’s human resources committee.

An experienced corporate director, Blouin is also a seasoned executive in the North American IT and telecommunications industry. From 2005 until 2014, he served as CEO of Manitoba Telecom Services. Before that, he worked for more than 20 years at BCE Inc., notably as president of various subsidiaries, including Bell Mobility and BCE Emergis.

"With Canadian financial institutions today operating in an increasingly complex technological environment, Pierre Blouin's expertise as a CEO of digital technology companies will be an important asset to National Bank's board," noted Jean Houde, chairman of the board of directors.

Blouin earned his bachelor’s degree in Commerce from HEC Montréal and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. He has received recognition as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 and dubbed a “Grand bâtisseur” by Commerce magazine for his accomplishments in business. He is also a Fellow of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.

He has held seats on the boards of public corporations such as BCE Emergis and Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. and non-profit organizations such as the Conference Board du Canada. He is presently a member of the board of directors, human resources committee and governance and nominating committee of Fortis Inc. Blouin is also a director of Canadian non-profits in the health sector.
