Revealed: WP's Top Employers 2024

Exhaustive search find the best wealth management firms to work for in Canada

Revealed: WP's Top Employers 2024

People are the engine of growth in the wealth management industry. That’s why Wealth Professional conducts its annual study of the best firms to work for in Canada. The list for 2024 has just been published, highlighting the best employers in the industry.

Because firms in this business tend to be smaller, we know that disruptions in workplace satisfaction can have a material impact on the success of a business. The top employers list recognizes those firms who put worker satisfaction first. WP surveyed hundreds of workers to evaluate firms based on the metrics of benefits, culture, development, and incentives.

“The simple answer is money,” says Travis O’Rourke, President of Hays Specialist Recruitment Canada when asked about how firms in this industry set themselves apart. “At entry-level wealth management, you have to have a high base salary, especially for people who are living in major cities where the cost of living is high. The talent tends to surround big markets.”

WP found seven standout companies, financial services firms with real pedigrees of employee satisfaction.

One of those winners was Avenue Living. The Calgary-based private real estate asset manager has over $6 billion in AUM, more than $2.9 billion in equity capital, and employs 750 people. They approach their work with an ethos of “investing in the everyday” which drives its asset management strategy and informs their position as a responsible steward of capital.

Another winner was Global X Investments Canada. A financial services company, Global X is likely best known for their ETFs, offering one of the largest ETF suites in Canada. The firm has more than $35 billion in AUM, manages 125 ETFs, and employs 75 people.
