The cost of the proposed LNG Canada plant in BC could be as high as $40 billion. One of the main consortium partners, Shell, has said that even if the project comes in at the lower end of its estimate ($25 billion) it would be one of the most expensive construction projects ever. The firm has stressed that the consortium has to ensure that the project to produce LNG to ship to Asia is economically viable and they have not yet committed to building it.
