Initial product launch is just the beginning as firm outlines plans for more than 30 ETFs in the near future
There is a new player in the Canadian ETF market – and this one is here to stay.
Sphere Investments has launched head-first into the sector with a suite of four Sphere FTSE Sustainable Yield ETF products. However, Lewis Bateman, founder and CEO of Sphere Investment Management Inc. believes this is just the tip of the iceberg: with plans to bring more than 30 ETFs to the market as part of its wealth management platform.
“As a Canadian owned and operated ETF provider, we are proud to offer an innovative, diversified and cost effective suite of smart beta/factor-tilted products to Canadian investors,” he said. “Sphere will build a robust wealth management platform to provide tailored solutions for a variety of investor needs and risk profiles.”
Initially the focus of the products is sustainable yield. The names of the ETFs launched are: the Sphere FTSE Asia Sustainable Yield Index ETF, the Sphere FTSE Canada Sustainable Yield Index ETF, the Sphere FTSE Europe Sustainable Yield Index ETF and the Sphere FTSE USA Sustainable Yield Index ETF.
However, according to the company’s president and chief investment officer Keith McLean, the focus going forward will be smart beta/factor-tilted products.
“Sphere was built to provide market-leading investment strategies that benefit a variety of investors,” he said. “It’s for this reason we have worked closely with top-tier partners including FTSE Russell, State Street and Bloomberg to develop global, best of breed strategies and a platform to meet the needs of all Canadians.”
