Canada’s exports were disappointing in January according to the latest data from Statistics Canada. The 2.8 per cent decline to $42.6 billion was across 4 of the 11 sectors but led by energy products which fell by 14.7 per cent. Imports were roughly the same as December resulting in Canada’s widest trade deficit since July 2013 at $2.5 billion; that’s more than double December’s figure and the expectations of analysts.
