The main index of the Toronto Stock Exchange declined on Thursday as investors chose to take profits after strong gains in the previous session. Energy and natural resources were among the sectors being sold-off with only healthcare staying positive in early trading. Wall Street also declined as earnings were in focus. Thursday’s trading in Asia shrugged off weak Chinese growth in the previous session and all the major indexes closed higher. In Europe the major markets closed lower after some disappointing earnings and fears that Greece may not be able to reach a long term solution on its debt.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed down 64.10 (0.41 per cent)

The NYSE closed lower

Oil is trending higher (Brent $63.94, WTI $56.53 at 4.20pm)

Gold is trending lower

The loonie is valued at U$0.8214 (at 4.20pm)
