TSX lower as all eyes are on the Fed

The Fed’s monetary committee meeting started on Tuesday and investors worldwide have been cautious ahead of any hints that Wednesday may bring, although there is no planned press conference.

The Fed’s monetary committee meeting started on Tuesday and investors worldwide have been cautious ahead of any hints that Wednesday may bring, although there is no planned press conference. Energy stocks lost some ground on the Toronto Stock Exchange although oil prices have stabilized. Wall Street was cautiously awaiting tomorrow’s Fed meeting conclusion. Asian markets had closed weaker earlier in the day with only Tokyo achieving gains. European markets were also lower ahead of the Fed.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed up 1.99 (0.01 per cent)

The NYSE closed mixed (S&P, Dow up; Nasdaq down)

Oil is trending lower (Brent $64.61, WTI $56.98 at 4.05pm)

Gold is trending higher

The loonie is valued at U$0.8313 (at 4.05pm)
