UBS group swoops for rival’s investment banker

Managing director and global head of asset management makes the switch to competitor

There has been a major move among financial services companies after Switzerland’s UBS Group swooped for a key figure from another Swiss giant, Credit Suisse.

Joseph Hershberger will make the switch from Credit Suisse to UBS, having worked at the former as global head of asset management banking and managing director.

Bloomberg is reporting on a company memo in which it is outlined that Hershberger will take the role as vice-chairman of financial institutions with the emphasis on asset management. He will begin working from the second quarter of the year. Previously he has worked at Putnum Lovell and established an asset management advisory practice.

Meanwhile, Hamish Summerfield will take Hershberger’s role at Credit Suisse with a separate memo outlining that he has been named as head of global asset management. He is set to move from London to New York where he had worked as head of asset management for the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
