Coming from a long tradition of financial planners, Robert Eby has been involved with Advocis for more than a decade

Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, has announced Robert Eby as the chair of its board of directors for 2021-2022.

Taking over the position from Abe Toews, who is still a member of the board, Eby has been an executive financial consultant with Rob Eby & Associates and IG Private Wealth Management in Winnipeg since 2006. He is a member of the Private Wealth Management with a specialization in the advanced needs of high-net-worth clients.

He began his career in 1987 with the information technology department of IG Wealth Management, where his responsibilities included implementation and training of financial planning tools for advisors. He has also been manager of Sales Technology Research, Development, and Training with IG, as well as VP of Strategic Business Development for Emerging Information Systems, Inc. (EISI).

From 2019 until 2021, he was vice chair of the Advocis board. Before that, he served on the Advocis Chapter Leadership Council from 2012 –2015 and was the 2010 –2011 President and 2007 –2009 Treasurer of the Advocis Winnipeg Chapter.

A third-generation financial planning professional, Eby comes from a legacy of financial planners that includes his grandfather, father, and sister. Taken together, they have more than 140 years of experience with IG Wealth Management.
