With rising levels of household debt and interest rates dominating many investors’ conversations with their advisors, there’s no doubt that Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz is one of the most influential figures in Canadian finance. While 2017 and 2018 saw the BoC embark on an aggressive path of rate increases, the economic slowdown that began in late 2018 has forced the bank to re-evaluate its interest rate plan.
