History of Scotia Wealth Management

Scotia Wealth Management, part of the Scotiabank group, has established itself as a comprehensive provider of investment and wealth solution services. The division includes ScotiaMcLeod®, Private Investment Counsel, Private Banking, Scotiatrust®, Total Wealth Planning, and other wealth solutions.

Its parent company was formed in Halifax by a group of businessmen to fill the need for a public bank. It was called the Bank of Nova Scotia when it was launched in 1832; it expanded rapidly in the years that followed. In 1961, the bank used the name Scotiabank and somehow, that monicker has stuck. The bank’s official name is still the Bank of Nova Scotia.
