Manulife's new ETF series, including OPPS and PLUS, begin trading on Cboe Canada, promising flexibility
Manulife Investment Management has announced the launch of three new ETF series, expanding access to alternative mutual funds introduced in Spring 2024.
The new ETF series available to investors include the Manulife Alternative Opportunities Fund – ETF Series and the Manulife Strategic Income Plus Fund – ETF Series.
Additionally, Manulife has introduced the Manulife Strategic Income Fund – ETF Series which builds on a strategy first launched by Manulife IM's Global Multi Sector Fixed Income Team in 2005. Trading for these ETF series commenced on Cboe Canada as of October 1.
Jordy Chilcott, head of Retail Intermediary Distribution, Canada, said, “We're excited to launch these ETFs from existing mutual funds for Canadian advisors and clients who seek the intraday flexibility of ETF trading for their investment needs.”
He noted that Manulife Investment Management is committed to providing clients with access to strategies that offer potential returns and income, now available in an ETF format.
New ETF Series:
-
The Manulife Alternative Opportunities Fund – ETF Series offers an ETF version of the alternative mutual fund, aiming to provide long-term total returns through income and capital appreciation, while managing volatility using hedging strategies.
The fund is managed by Manulife IM's Canadian Fixed Income Team, focusing on North American fixed income markets, and aiming to deliver a tactical bond solution with potentially higher yields and less volatility than a typical bond fund.
-
The Manulife Strategic Income Plus Fund – ETF Series seeks to maximize total return by generating income and capital appreciation.
Managed by Manulife IM's Global Multi Sector Fixed Income Team, the fund provides a global bond solution with potentially higher yields compared to standard bond funds, actively managing duration and currency exposure to optimize returns.
-
The Manulife Strategic Income Fund – ETF Series offers an ETF version of the mutual fund focused on generating income with a strong emphasis on capital preservation. This strategy is also managed by the Global Multi Sector Fixed Income Team, which has extensive experience in global fixed income markets.
