MD Financial Management launches new private real estate trust for clients

MD Financial Management has introduced the MD Platinum Global Private Real Estate 2025 Trust to expand its range of private asset offerings.

This trust promises physicians and their families access to private real estate investments, which are typically harder to access due to high minimum-purchase requirements and other barriers to entry.

Available until July 31, the trust aims to create global diversification with a focus on growth over a ten-year period. It includes investments in retail, apartment, industrial, data centres, logistics, and specialty property sectors, with multi-residential properties as a core component.

The emphasis will also include growth-oriented sectors such as cold storage and data warehouses.

The trust's portfolio will consist of three main types of investments: primary fund investments made during initial and subsequent closings, secondary investments purchased from other investors in the private market, and direct property co-investments where ownership of an asset is acquired.

Craig Maddock, vice president, senior portfolio manager, and head of the Multi-Asset Management Team at 1832 Asset Management, emphasized the potential of non-traditional investments.

He stated, “By investing in non-traditional investments, clients can potentially earn higher returns.” Maddock also noted that these investments provide access to long-term opportunities.

Maddock added that as interest rates moderate and property values rise, the trust provides an opportunity to diversify portfolios while taking advantage of market shifts.

MD Private Investment Counsel (MDPIC) will exclusively offer the trust to physicians and their families, partnering with experienced institutional-level real estate managers to oversee the portfolio.

This marks the fifth private asset pool introduced by MD, following the MD Platinum Global Private Equity Trust in 2023, the MD Platinum Global Private Credit Pool in 2021, the MD Platinum Global Real Estate Pool in 2019, and the MD Platinum Global Private Equity Pool in 2018.

Pamela Allen, MD’s CEO, stated, “MD is proud to be able to offer another private real estate solution and enable clients to add meaningful value to their portfolios by complementing core strategy allocations and seeking outcomes for investors.”

Allen noted that the new trust leverages the learnings and best practices from previous MD Platinum offerings.
