Pacific Blue Cross selects new VP of human resources and chief privacy officer
Pacific Blue Cross, British Columbia’s number one health benefits provider, has chosen Rob Chiarello as its vice-president for Human Resources and chief privacy officer.

Chiarello has over 17 years of experience providing strategy, innovation, and direction as he takes on his new role. Possessing extensive knowledge of Canadian private and public healthcare plans, he will lead the organization in terms of best practices for team management, recruitment, and labor relations.

"Rob's experience with Pacific Blue Cross gives him extensive knowledge of our organization and how we operate," said Jan K. Grude, president and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross. "His natural ability to bring out the best in teams is a tremendous asset as we grow and invest in new technologies and continuous service improvement for our members."

Chiarello’s rise through the ranks of Pacific Blue Cross has helped him cultivate a thorough understanding of organizational culture and how to lead workforces through transformative change. He has guided the claims services department, the largest department in the company, through the modernization of claims technology as its director. During his stint as director of group services, he used lean methodology to rally group services employees in the design of efficiencies that slashed plan onboarding time in half.

“I am honoured to be taking on this new role," he said. "This is a truly exciting opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to lead and inspire our workforce to deliver the best customer experience for Pacific Blue Cross members across the country."

Aside from being an active member of the CLHIA, Chiarello is also a director of Burnaby Family Life, a non-profit program that helps children and families in Burnaby reach their full potential.
