CPP Investments promotes Caitlin Gubbels, succeeding Suyi Kim in global role
John Graham, president, and CEO of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) has announced a senior executive leadership appointment, effective October 15.
Caitlin Gubbels has been promoted to senior managing director and global head of Private Equity and will join the senior management team.
In this role, she will oversee the global Private Equity program, including teams focused on Direct Private Equity, Private Equity Asia, and Private Equity Funds and Secondaries.
Graham highlighted Gubbels' significant contributions since joining CPP Investments 14 years ago, stating, “[Her] proven ability to build relationships and generate returns across private equity opportunities makes her ideally suited to take on this expanded leadership role and contribute meaningfully to the senior management team.”
Gubbels, who joined CPP Investments in 2010, was previously managing director, head of Funds, leading the Private Equity Funds business. Before CPP Investments, she worked at CIBC World Markets in investment banking in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University.
Gubbels succeeds Suyi Kim, who is leaving the organization after 17 successful years to pursue new global investment leadership opportunities. Graham also expressed deep gratitude for Kim's contributions, acknowledging her tenure at CPP Investments.
He noted her role in establishing the organization's presence in the Asia Pacific region by opening the Hong Kong office in 2008 and her leadership in growing the Private Equity business globally from Toronto and New York.
Graham added, “She has been a valuable advisor and partner on the senior management team, and we wish her all the best in the next stage of her career.”
