Franklin Templeton Canada bolsters leadership with new appointments

Franklin Templeton Canada has named Kevin Johnston as head of Product Strategy – Canada, and Dario Di Napoli as senior vice president of Alternatives Distribution.  

Johnston leads the development and implementation of Franklin Templeton’s product strategies and investment offerings for Canadian advisors, institutional clients, and individual investors.  

Johnston brings two decades of industry experience. He is skilled in product management, competitive research, market research, product development, and business planning for both institutional and retail businesses, including mutual funds, pools, SMAs, and ETFs. 

Johnston has a history of building strong partnerships and leading diverse teams. His focus remains on exceeding client expectations and tailoring solutions to their needs. 

Before joining Franklin Templeton, Johnston led the investment product and research team at Capital Group. He also held senior roles at Invesco Canada, including vice president of Product Management, and worked in financial services at TD.  

“[Johnston] will collaborate with advisors and institutions to ensure that our innovative investment capabilities, from our in-house investment managers, are tailored to meet the evolving needs of Canadian investors,” said Andrew Ashton, chair of Franklin Templeton Canada. 

Dario Di Napoli oversees the expansion of Franklin Templeton’s alternatives business in Canada, which is part of the firm’s US$250bn global alternatives platform.  

His responsibilities include promoting the firm’s private equity, private credit, and real estate capabilities among institutional investors and advisors in Canada. 

Di Napoli has 19 years of industry experience. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined Franklin Templeton in August 2024 and was previously a senior director at Amundi Investment Solutions.  

He also held roles as director of Institutional at Unigestion, managing director of Institutional Investments at Manulife Investment Management, and director at Westcourt Capital Corporation.
