Chris McHaney takes on leadership at Global X, overseeing 125 ETFs and contributing to market insights
Global X Investments Canada Inc. has announced that Chris McHaney, CFA, has been appointed as executive vice president, head of Investment Management and Strategy, effective immediately.
McHaney will oversee the management of the company’s product suite, which includes 125 exchange-traded funds (ETFs). He will also contribute to market commentary, macroeconomic research, and ETF insights through Global X's network of experts.
With over 20 years of experience in portfolio management, investment strategy, and product development, McHaney has extensive knowledge of the ETF industry in Canada.
Prior to joining Global X, he worked at BMO Global Asset Management as director, portfolio manager, focusing on derivative-based and multi-asset mandates. He also worked as vice chair of BMO’s Trading Oversight Committee, responsible for overseeing adherence to trading policies across all asset classes.
McHaney is a CFA charterholder and holds specialized certifications in options and derivatives from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Speaking on his appointment, McHaney stated, “Since I joined the investment industry more than two decades ago, I’ve watched Global X become one of our country’s largest and most innovative investment firms. Today, I’m proud to officially be a part of that story and to help tell it.”
In addition to McHaney’s appointment, Global X also announced a leadership change within its executive team. Hyun Su Ahn, who has been with the company, will take on a new role as executive vice president, head of Product and Operations.
In this role, Ahn will lead the transformation of the company’s operations while continuing to oversee product development initiatives.
