Industry veteran Oricia Smith takes charge with passion for advocacy and commitment to advisors and clients
Sun Life Global Investments has announced Oricia Smith as president of SLGI Asset Management and senior vice president, Investment Solutions of Sun Life Canada.
“As the first female president of SLGI Asset Management Inc., I am proud to be leading a business that has the power to affect society by helping people save for their retirement and achieve lifetime financial security,” Smith said in a statement.
Smith joined Sun Life in 2016 as Vice President of the International Investment Centre (IIC), before which she had spent over 17 years at Invesco and began her career in the investment banking division at TD Securities.
At Sun Life, Smith took on various leadership roles. In 2017, she was named senior managing director and head of the IIC, Product Development and Analytics for SLC Management, where she took the lead on product strategy, addressing the needs of institutional investors in the U.S. and Canada by launching innovative public and private fixed income and alternative investment solutions. More recently, she was interim president, SLGI Asset Management and senior vice president, Investment Solutions.
