As Gillian Riley retires, Scotiabank appoints Terri-Lee Weeks to guide Tangerine into its next phase
Scotiabank has announced the appointment of Terri-Lee Weeks as president and CEO of Tangerine, effective November 1.
Weeks joined the bank in September 2021 as executive vice president, Retail Customer, where she was responsible for driving client value and loyalty through the bank’s retail products and enhancing customer experience.
Her experience spans Retail Banking, Wealth Management, and Capital Markets, making her well-equipped for this role.
Aris Bogdaneris, group head of Canadian Banking, highlighted Weeks’ qualifications, including her success in scaling digital business and her understanding of the Canadian retail landscape.
She has held senior roles at multinational financial and consulting firms, including senior vice president of Personal Savings and Investments and Wealth Management Products and Strategy, as well as managing director of Capital Markets Global Transformation.
The announcement also includes the retirement of Gillian Riley, who will step down as president and CEO after a 31-year career with Scotiabank.
According to Bogdaneris, in each of Riley’s roles at Scotiabank and Tangerine, she led with a focus on growing the business, delivering client value, and building her teams.
Riley’s legacy at Scotiabank includes founding The Scotiabank Women Initiative, a program that supports women in advancing their careers, growing their businesses, and investing in their futures.
Riley will remain as a strategic advisor until December 31 and continue as chair of the Board of Roynat Capital. Riley was president and CEO of Tangerine for the past six years and was the founder of The Scotiabank Women Initiative, which supports women in business.
