Canadian professionals bring years of expertise to FPSB global financing strategy
The Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. has announced newly elected leaders from across the world to serve on the FPSB Board of Directors, Council, Professional Standards Committee, and Network Forums in 2023.
FPSB is responsible for setting standards for the international financial planning profession and owner of the Certified Financial Planner certification program outside of the United States.
Andrea Middel, a partner at DURF Financial Planners in Leusden, has been elected to the FPSB Board of Directors, Council, Professional Standards Committee, and Network For Financial Planning. Middel has been chosen to serve a two-year term beginning on 1 April 2023. She joined the FPSB Board in 2019 and is a partner at DURF Financial Planners in the Netherlands.
“It’s been a privilege to serve on the FPSB Board of Directors over the past three years and I look forward to continuing to support the long-term success of FPSB and the global financial planning profession as chairperson-elect with my peers on the Board,” Middel said in a statement.
“As the value of, and demand for, financial planning increases, it’s an exciting time to be at the helm of an organization that is committed to establishing worldwide professional standards in financial planning and future-proofing the profession to benefit the public and the global community in the years to come.”
She now chairs the FPSB Professional Standards Committee, participates in the organization's Compensation and Succession Planning Committee, and was on the board of directors of Federatie Financieel Planners, the FPSB's Dutch Affiliate, from 2012 to 2018.
FPSB has also named two additional board members, each of whom will begin a three-year term on April 1, 2023.
Caroline Dabu is the head of Wealth Distribution and Advisory Services at BMO Private Wealth in Canada, and the current head of the FP Canada Foundation. She previously served on the board of the Financial Planning Standards Council, which is now known as FP Canada, from 2015 to 2018. She graduated from Carleton University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Brett Millard, CFP, CIM, is the regional director of IG Wealth Management in Canada and a former director and board chair of FP Canada from 2014 to 2021. He also served on the FPSB Council from 2018 to 2020. Millard graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a degree in business.
