Wellington-Altus launches new platform, focusing on advisor autonomy

Wellington-Altus Financial Inc. (Wellington-Altus), parent company of Wellington-Altus Private Wealth, has launched Independent Advisor Solutions Inc.  

This new subsidiary caters to Canadian advisors seeking an independent platform that prioritizes autonomy while providing essential supports to help advisors manage clients and grow their practices.   

Independent Advisor Solutions has introduced a suite of five global institutional-quality investment funds sub-advised by BlackRock, a leading provider of investment, advisory, and risk management solutions.  

These funds, collectively named MiBLOX, were created to help portfolio managers diversify their model portfolios globally and improve clients’ risk-adjusted returns.   

“Independent Advisor Solutions is Wellington-Altus’ natural next step in support of the advisor-led revolution towards independence underway in Canada,” said Jon Kilfoyle, president of Independent Advisor Solutions.  

He added that their mission is to empower advisors by delivering better portfolios, emphasizing the strategic collaboration with BlackRock as an example of how they support independent advisors.   

The company’s sub-advisory service, MiMODEL, provides turn-key multi-asset model portfolios with added support to assist advisors in scaling their wealth management businesses

This service aims to simplify portfolio management and improve client conversations.   

Shaun Hauser, founder, and CEO of Wellington-Altus stated that Independent Advisor Solutions reflects the company's focus on reshaping wealth management in Canada by offering strong advisor support and extensive resources. 

He believes this move will allow advisors to accelerate practice growth in the ways they choose.   

Marcia Moffat, country head of Canada for BlackRock, highlighted the strategic collaboration's potential to expand access to targeted exposures across asset classes.  

She emphasized how these solutions would enable Canadian advisors to invest long-term and seize opportunities for their clients.
